I agree with some of what Joe said that if Saugus tries to start charging for trash there will be even more dumping than their already is.  It would be a large organizational project and the cost to contact all resident, send out billing and possibly penalize those who will not participate could end up being a nightmare.  I also feel that the town should pick up the expense of trash collection with our taxes. If the company that is doing it now is to expensive then you offer to renegotiate with the company that now has the contract or you find another company to do the job. Recycling should just about pay for itself I would think. Recycling is for the environment so aren't there benefits to participating in a recycling program? After all residents already paid for the items being recycled and are voluntarily returning those items to help our earth. The program mentioned by Sean is offering to pay people to recycle. I don't think that payment is what people want, it's not paying any more that is a concern. Thanks for listening.
