When Andy B. took over as town manager he had the following idea:
All residents would have to purchase one of three different size plastic bags, the cost of small, medium or large bags were never discussed.
The bags could be purchased at all public buildings in Saugus.
Andy always believed in recyling and a pay as you throw program was a win-win program for the town. Andy also mentioned that the current trash contract required the removal of recyled products free of charge to the town, but he wanted to go one step further and on the next contract June 2008 he wanted the company to give Saugus a % of profit from the recyled products. Andy always wanted to give the schools more money, as he believes that children should be well educated. The health insurance financial problem which he tried to re-negotiate with the unions since he became town manager never passed until Peter Rosatti and Andy B. worked together to get the GIC into the town. Our Town Manager Andy B. had many new ideas when he began, but every time he tried to enforce an idea some one who we all know and love stopped him with a by law taking away his powers.
The Town of Saugus is past due for a recyling program that pays the town.
I do not mind recyling and if the extra money that the town saved and made were to go towards education purposes and possibly new school buildings, I would not mind purchasing plastic bags from the town to keep curb side pick up.
